Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.

The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.

Sizing System Changes

Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
